About the position
Plan, lead, organize, control and evaluate the Quality and Safety functions at the plant level. The employee also acts as the ISO Management Representative overseeing the entire quality management system and the ISO certification process.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
· College/University Degree Preferred;
· High School Diploma/GED Required;
· Two (2) Years Related Safety and/or Quality Assurance Experience; or Equivalent Combination of Education and Experience
· ISO 9001 and OSHA Experience, A Plus
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
· Possess working knowledge of ISO 9001, quality assurance, OSHA, safety, and inspection methods, techniques, and equipment to reason and make judgments to meet deadlines in a high-volume production environment
· Possess proficient organizational skills with great attention to detail and a quality assurance/safety orientation mindset
· Possess verbal/written communication skills to present information or ideas clearly to personnel at all levels of production operations and senior management
· Possess proficient information gathering and monitoring skills to facilitate effective, unbiased decision making and problem-solving functions
· Possess proficient mathematical ability to provide technical support
· Possess proficient computer literacy
· Possess a “Team” mentality with ability to take initiative and maintain confidentiality
· Possess close visual acuity and upper limb coordination with medium (20-30 lbs) lifting capability during normal phase duties
· Possess ability to sit or stand as needed
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
· Performs daily walk-down inspection of plant area to check for safety hazards, OSHA violations, and quality issues.
· Test and examine samples of products at specified intervals during production to ensure quality
· Conduct rigorous safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and mitigate risk
· Facilitate training for employees for quality improvement and best safety practices
· Manage and distribute PPE for employees
· Retrieves daily safety checklists from working shift from each station/ machine in plant.
· Monitor safety and quality metrics
· Possess working knowledge of ISO 9001 standard to facilitate all aspects of the ISO certified Quality Management System including maintaining current systems and developing new systems as needed
· Analyzes and participates in management-based safety processes on a regular basis and ensures that all available resources are being utilized effectively.
· Develops preventative and/or corrective actions per results of management-based safety processes and follows up.
· Generates preventative actions and continuous improvement projects.
· Assist the H.R. Office Administrator with the “Return to Work Program” for work injuries. Ensure that the program is in place and working.
· Oversee the following areas handled by the H.R. Office Administrator: All OSHA record keeping and Keller Soft reporting, safety incentive program administration, Workers’ Compensation program administration.
· Maintain all ISO/quality records and see that all necessary records reach the Corporate Quality Assurance manager.
· Oversee and maintain the administration requirements of the Quality Assurance Inspection procedures.
· Maintain all quality documents and forms to ensure that they are current and readily available to all employees.
· Work with all auditors during the times their efforts are needed.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Attends corporate training sessions to acquire innovative procedures to maintain contemporary quality assurance/ISO procedures.
· Performs any other related duties as assigned by executive or senior management.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Majority of work performance is conducted in a climate-controlled plant office that contains office machinery and equipment with intermittent off- site work performance that may require air or motorized travel with exposure to flight or roadPlace of work
