About the position
- The Process Engineer will have a direct hand in project management and support, working side by side with the Maintenance Department.
- This role while called Process Engineer is more along the lines of a Safety & Reliability Engineer that also oversees LEAN, 5S, etc.
The Process Engineer will be responsible for overseeing plant efficiency and utilization of operations while working alongside with maintenance teams to ensure safety and efficiency.
What you'll need:
- Establish work measurement programs and analyze work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
- Develop standardized work instructions as required.
- Support manufacturing operations when needed.
- Study functional statements, organization charts and project information to determine functions and responsibilities of team members and work units to identify areas of duplication.
- Analyze work force utilization, facility layout and operational data such as production costs, process flow charts and production schedules to determine efficient utilization of team members and equipment.
- Recommend methods for improving team member efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating workstations and equipment and purchase of equipment.
- Confer with management and engineering to implement plans and recommendations.
- Monitors operation of plant equipment and systems.
- Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree from a college or technical school preferred.
- 3+ years plus related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge and experience with lean manufacturing principles such as Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma and TPS (Toyota Production Systems)
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Internet software.
