Estate Administration Paralegal

About the position

Our client is a law firm specializing in Elder Law and Estate Planning. With multiple offices on Long Island, they are expanding and seek an experienced paralegal to work in their Smithtown Office.  The position is full-time in the office.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and gather assets, preparing probate documents, and managing the distribution of assets.
  • Working with clients, financial planners, and accountants, and preparing necessary documentation for distributions and taxes.
  • Drafting wills, trusts, and other related documents.
  • Opening probate proceedings, valuing estate assets, and preparing court forms.
  • Preparing sub-trust allocation schedules, managing trust administration, and preparing documentation for distributions.
  • Meeting with clients, communicating with financial planners, and answering client questions.
  • Preparing various probate and accounting documents, including tax returns.
  • Identifying, gathering, and valuing assets, and preparing for their distribution. 

MAIN REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior experience as a paralegal within Estate Administration.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented and able to work with confidential information.
  • Familiarity with probate procedures and relevant laws.
  • Ability to research legal issues and use reference materials.
  • Understanding of financial concepts and terminology related to estate planning.
  • Knowledge of estate and gift tax laws. 

ADDITIONAL INFO:

  • Salary is between 70-90K (DOE)
  • Solid work – life balance. There are no billable hours.
