Sales Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a high-energy, results-oriented Sales Engineer to be a key contributor to our rapidly growing business. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, sales acumen, and leadership skills to support product development, manufacturing, and dealer relationships. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background (mechanical or trade equivalent) with experience in bill of material (BOM) creation and maintenance, CAD design revisions, and ERP system management (Sage 100 experience preferred).

This is a cross-functional leadership position, working across engineering, sales, manufacturing, and operations to drive efficiency, improve processes, and enhance product performance in the generator industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering & Product Development

  • Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) to ensure accuracy in manufacturing and inventory control.
  • Utilize CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent) to make design changes, revisions, and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and update manufacturing work instructions and design files to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Work closely with product development teams to enhance generator designs for performance and manufacturability.

Sales & Business Growth

  • Support the sales team with technical expertise, helping to create accurate sales quotes and proposals.
  • Work closely with dealers, stakeholders, and specifying engineers to ensure product alignment with customer needs.
  • Assist in developing product submittals and sales documentation to support business growth.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work up and down the organizational structure and across departments to streamline processes and drive continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a bridge between sales, engineering, and manufacturing, ensuring alignment on design updates, BOMs, and production schedules.
  • Use Sage 100 ERP (preferred) to manage sales orders, inventory, and production planning.
  • Balance multiple priorities and projects, ensuring timely execution and high-quality results.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent trade experience.
  • Experience in bill of material (BOM) creation and maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) for design revisions and product updates.
  • Experience in manufacturing work instructions and design file management.
  • Familiarity with Sage 100 ERP or similar platforms for inventory and order management is preferred.
  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of working across departments and driving organizational success.
  • Creative problem solver with the ability to balance multiple priorities and complex challenges.
